Liver Function Update

Back to Reality...boooo!

Scott has already had 2 blood tests this week- poor guy!  Monday's test show that the LFTs continue to move in the right direction but are still very high.  Scott is on a very high dose of steroids in order for the LFTs to improve so his doctor referred him to a liver specialist this week.  The liver specialist and the neuro-oncologist have consulted and are probably going to put him on a new medication to help his liver function improve.  We are still awaiting confirmation of today's blood tests (Wednesday) before making the final decision on the new med.  The new med is used typically for liver transplant patients when their body rejects the new liver -- Scott's body seems to be rejecting his own liver and this is probably due to the immunotherapy treatment for the brain cancer.

I'm anxious to start weening him of some of the steroids but that hasn't happened yet.  While all this is happening, there will be no discussion of treatment of the brain cancer as the liver has to get worked out first.

Thank you to all of you for continued support and prayers.  We are consistently overwhelmed by the support of our friends and family.  Whether it's a bouquet of flowers, a trip to the grocery store, a delivery of a meal, a smile or hug, a card in the mail, a text to say your thinking of us, an offer of help, or a prayer that Scott gets better.  We are very blessed to be surrounded by such love and support.  Please know that sometimes I don't have a chance to respond to an email or text, but I have received it and shared it with Scott and it warms our hearts.

Oh -- and I got the taxes done last night at 10pm!!

Woo hoo!

xoxo,
Julie
