Surgery scheduled, visit or call today

Scott has decided upon a surgeon and a hospital. His surgery is scheduled for 9:30am on Friday at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ and will be performed by Dr. Brian Beyerl. Dr. Beyerl has an excellent reputation and is considered the best neurosurgeon in New Jersey.

Because Scott will be transported to Overlook Hospital tomorrow, today would be the best day for short calls or visits (15 minutes or so).

Please feel free to share this blog with others. We'll be updating it as things progress. If you would like to make a comment for us to pass along to Scott, please click on the word "comments" underneath the posting.

Keep the prayers and positive thoughts coming...

SCOTT! This is NOT the way to get attention!!

I hate to hear this news but I'm so happy to hear that it is NOT Lyme disease!!!

Seriously, Scott, my every positive thought is heading your way and the direction of your family and loved ones.

I’m not sure you knew this, but I had neurosurgery when I was two year old. I had a Dr. Black that was white, a Dr. White that was black and Dr. Green that was white and it all worked out great.... I guess... unless you think that I might be gay from the surgery (although I've never really heard of that happening before)...Okay, we'll pray that you aren't gay afterward too!

You’ll be fine! There are worse things than being gay!

  4. Julie -- Please send my thoughts and prayers to Scott. I will be thinking of him and especially on Friday. I am leaving for London tomorrow, but have asked Kate to keep me informed over the weekend. God bless and I will check in again when I return. All my best, Melissa W.

  7. Hi Scott and Julie,
You all are in our thoughts and prayers. The blog is a great idea. We like being able to check on how things are going without bugging you all the time. It sounds like Ben has been amazing! Not surprising since you guys have trained him up right with all your big brother and sister love over the past years. Glad to hear the kids are coping ok. Your positive attitudes make a big difference. If you need a kid watcher, Paul is willing to fly out.

We have had some good news lately. Andrew passed his GED test on the first try!!! Very good scores also. And he got a job!!! US Celluar -- how appropriate - a cell phone expert!

Jonathan's white blood cell count was up when he went for his treatment, so he is back on antibiotics. He feels fine and is doing well though.

Becca is doing great and much happier this year now that she isn't a new kid at school.

We love you lots and will continue to pray often. Call us if we can help in any way.

    Love, Tes

Just received a note from Kurt to Chris and forwarded to me. You are in our thoughts and prayers. I hope that we can be as helpful and supportive as you and your family have been for us. My resources and network are yours.

  9. Short Positive Note to Scott & Julie,

My sister Ann called me today and asked about you. When I mentioned that Scott was having surgery at Overlook, she said, he couldn't be in a better place. Apparently, one of her teaching colleagues had extremely successful brain tumor surgery at Overlook by Dr. Beyerl. Her friend was given only a 50% chance of making out of the surgery. The tumor had already impacted her brain function and vision. Three years later, she is back in the classroom with most of her brain function in tact and with her vision fully restored.

The more I talk about your current issues, the more I hear very positive stories with happy endings. Hang tough.

Sending prayers and positive vibes your way...Kate
