Initial Pathology Report Results

We talked today with both the neurosurgeon and a neuro-oncologist. The tumor is a primary malignant tumor called an astrocytoma. The initial recommendation from the neuro-oncologist would involve a combination of radiation and chemotherapy.

We are currently having Memorial Slone-Kettering provide second opinions on both the pathology report and treatment options before we procede with any treatment.

We are ready for the fight and we are keeping our outlook positive. Thank you for all the positive energy and prayers that you have all been sending our way!

Love,
Julie and Scott

    Scott –

All this possible treatment sounds like it is going to make you smarter! Is that even possible?? Once upon a time, Peter Parker was bitten by an irradiated spider giving him amazing powers and he soon became known as Spider-Man. Would you stop and think of the possibilities? Enviro-Lawyer! Oh, wait! You already have those amazing powers!

I am thinking about you a lot, man. I am happy to hear that SO MANY people are giving you and your family support. Although, it should not surprise you – we all know you would do the same for us.

I am not sure what I can offer other than my continued healthy thoughts for you and my love.

Amazed to hear you are out of the hospital and home so quickly. I guess they didn't mess up your brains too badly while they were in there poking around! You are in for a fight with the cancer, though, so rest now, give your family a big hug for me and eat your super veggies!

BTW -- Eve wants you to know her first week of first grade was great. She's just learned to knit and is working on a hat for you. Of course, she has the attention span of a 6-year-old, so you may be old and gray before you get it! Eli says being a Care Bear (his very macho-sounding new class at preschool) is really cool. Scott,

As you begin this fight, I am reminded of the words that one of the greatest fighters ever, Muhammad Ali, once said:

"Frazier is so ugly he should donate his face to the U.S. Bureau of Wildlife." ;)

I am also reminded of something else he said, in explaining why he was a champion:

"It's lack of faith that makes people afraid of meeting challenges, and I believed in myself."

Continue to have faith, and continue to believe in yourself, as I know you already do. As Ali vividly proved, when you have faith, and belief in yourself, you can overcome any challenge that comes your way. And I know that you will overcome this one. Take care and God Bless, my friend.

    Scott,

I'm not sure the message I just sent you got through, so I wanted to send it again just in case. If you get it twice, I apologize for making you read it twice. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and Julie and your kids every day. I'm sure you'll have a totally successful treatment and a complete and speedy recovery. Hurry back -- we all miss you!
