Thankful for Priorities

This year I am thankful for a new perspective on how we, as a family, set priorities in life.  This wisdom was imparted on me by our friend, 18 year old Chase Wickenheiser and his parents, our very good friends, Cathy and Kort.  It makes choices and decisions in life pretty simple.  It provides a structure to our every day.

Priority 1.  God: I'm thankful for knowing and accepting that there are so many things that are beyond our own control in life and accepting the fact that the things that we go through in life help to shape our character.  Knowing that no matter what happens in life, God is always there to turn to is a great comfort to me and my family.

Priority 2.  Family:  In my kids terms, my family members are my "BAEs" (Better than Anyone Else).  Family is important. Period. It's that simple.  I'm thankful beyond words for my family.   I'm most thankful that Scott is able to celebrate another Thanksgiving with us this year.

Priority 3.  Work/School: Let's face it work and school are important.  The help us grow intellectually and connect us to others. Work serves to provide for us financially.  If anyone knows me, they know I LOVE my job!  I am so thankful to work with a great staff, with great kids, in a great town.  My kids are lucky enough to go to school in that same great school system.  I'm thankful for the dedication and caring of their teachers, counselors, and administrators!

Priority 4: Sports/Fitness: Ok, I'm a little lacking in this department but it's a priority in my kids life.  Being a part of sports - soccer, karate, basketball,  summer swim, etc.  helps to build character and teach teamwork.  I'm so thankful for all the coaches who dedicate their time to teaching kids on the field, court, pool, or mat.  And I'm especially thankful for the friends and families who help me to make sure that my kids make it to their practices and games - what would I do without you??  You know who you are!

Priority 5: Social Events and Friends:   What would I do without my friends?!  As difficult and busy as life gets sometimes, making time for friends is important.  I am thankful for all the things I share together with friends: laughs, tears, smiles, fears - all of it.  Friends have supported us more than I could have imagined this year.  I'm thankful for all of you - every single one of you.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving.  Even when times are tough, there is so much in which to be Thankful.

xoxo,
Julie
