Crazy Wednesday

It seemed like it was going to be a normal day....the kids and I got up and went to school and Scott and his Dad stayed home making breakfast and watching the news.  Jan came mid-morning to take Ron to the airport (sad) to go back to Iowa for a little while to take care of some things for himself.  We all encouraged him to go and take a break from the craziness of our lives and also to just take care of himself and his own needs (like paying taxes and going to his own doctor's appointments!).

About 1pm, I got a call from Jan saying that Scott was having another seizure.  I raced home from work and we assessed his state together.  She had given him the Valium nasal spray which was calming the convulsions but his breathing was labored and his was still in a seizure state so we called 911.  After about 15 minutes from the start of the seizure, he started to come out of it but his right side arm and leg were not moving at all.  We decided we better take him in the ambulance to Overlook Hospital.  Luckily by the time the ambulance arrived at the Hospital, Scott was already starting to regain some motion in his limbs and he was becoming more alert.  They discharged him home at about 5:30 - whew.  We will follow up with his docs tomorrow to try to adjust the seizure meds once again.

The most heartwarming part of the day was as Scott was coming out of the seizure but still  unresponsive to the EMTs and police officers (love these guys), when I talked to him, he would smile. :)   That's my Valentine....love him with all my heart and so glad he didn't have to stay overnight in the hospital.

xoxo,
Julie
