First week down

Just thought I should post a quick summary of week one of treatments. Not a whole lot of news, but folks are interested. I guess the first week went great. I have been feeling great. I actually have been feeling about the same as I did before starting the chemo and radiation. I haven't been feeling tired or sick so far. Given, it is still pretty early in the game, but I am encouraged by how things are going so far. We all know that the side effects can be cumulative as the treatments continue, but I'll tackle any side effects as they come.

Here is my favorite technique for maintaining energy--I haven't been napping or anything, b/c I don't really feel tired at the moment. However, Paige and JJ have inexhaustible energy. I have been secretly stealing some of that energy from them. I grab them and hug them and imagine myself milking the extra energy out of them and transferring it to me. It doesn't seem to actually reduce THEIR energy....but it seems to refresh me. We could all use some more energy. Plus, the kids don't seem to mind at all.

If you have kids, grab them, love them and use their energy. If you don't have kids, come on over and steal some energy from mine....they have plenty for all of us.

I'll keep you updated on treatments. Thanks for all the support and prayers.

Much love.
Scott

Leeching energy--I like it! I'm so glad the first week went so well; that is great news and a relief to all your friends and fans. Keep us posted and keep squeezing the kiddies--give everyone a group hug for me while you're at it. Love, Marge

OK, that was kinda corny. And how come I feel so exhausted after a day with your kids?? Cute as they are, you are right about them having inexhaustible energy! I guess I'm just going to have to practice "energy milking", although perhaps there is a way to do it through osmosis - less messy.

Seriously, though, Johan and I are so happy that you are doing so well. We wouldn't expect anything less.

Love ya like a fat kid loves cake.

  3. So how come I'm always so tired after I babysit Maddy and Lexi? Must be cause they're my nieces and not my kids? I'll try and bottle some of Maddy's energy this weekend and send it to you...of course, if we really could do that, we'd all be gazillionares! Maybe I'll try for essence of Barbara Newhall (I really want to grow up and be just like her some day...maybe if I eat enought Peeps?)
I'm so glad that treatment is not wearing you out or making you sick. You have all my love and most of my happy thought energy (Sorry, gotta keep some for work...)and all of my rabbit wishes. Stay strong and know that we love you and are praying for you.
    love,

I think you should've had Paige and JJ give Iowa's starting offense and defense big hugs before the Ohio State game!!! Continue to stay stong, my friend. Look forward to talking to you soon.
